At the 2026 World Fencing Championships in Hong Kong, Hungary’s men’s épée opened on July 21 with an unbeaten bout from Gergely Tóth, while the women’s épée saw Eszter Muhari and Blanka Nagy reach the top‑64. On July 22 India celebrated a breakthrough as Taniksha Khatri and Prachi Lohan became the first Indian women to qualify for the senior épée main draw of 64. Hungarian women’s foil fencers Flóra Pásztor, Dóra Lupkovics, Kata Kondricz and Jázmin Papp secured places in the individual tableau on July 24.

Later on July 24, Hungarian fencer Dósa Dániel captured a historic bronze in men’s foil, the first men’s foil world‑championship medal for Hungary since 1973. In the same session, 23‑year‑old Battai Sugár Katinka earned bronze in women’s épée after defeating opponents from Kazakhstan, Italy, the United States and Russia, giving Hungary a second medal of the event.

On July 25 the Indian épée pair improved their results, finishing 43rd (Khatri) and 58th (Lohan) – the highest‑ever placements for India, confirming a historic achievement. The Indian squad also included Yashkeerat Kaur (143rd) and Mitva Jesangbhai Chaudhari (150th) in women’s épée, while the men’s foil team remained outside the top‑100, with Sachin ranked 107th.
