Hungarian PM Magyar dismisses Czunyiné Bertalan Judit from TOP leadership

Prime Minister Magyar Péter has removed Fidesz politician Czunyiné Bertalan Judit from the chairmanship of the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Program (TOP) and its TOP Plus monitoring board, effective immediately. The decision, published in the Magyar Közlöny, appoints Szabó Mátyás, state secretary for regional development, as her successor.

The dismissal is part of a broader reshuffle of senior officials appointed during the previous Orbán government, following the party’s electoral defeat. Czunyiné, previously a minister for education and later a senior official in regional development, had been named to the TOP positions in April. The change reflects the new cabinet’s effort to reorganise development policy bodies and replace officials closely linked to the former administration.
