Hungarian political controversies: MP Szentkirályi denounces fake parliamentary photo, President Sulyok files a petition

A manipulated image of MP Alexandra Szentkirályi was circulated on Facebook, showing her appearing to touch her nose and then her mouth in the parliamentary chamber. Fact‑checkers confirmed the montage was altered, noting inconsistencies such as missing background details and a missing ring on her hand. Szentkirályi condemned the meme, calling it “deeply below standard” and warned that fabricated images can quickly mislead the public.

President Katalin Sulyok (Tamás Sulyok) submitted a request to the Constitutional Court seeking clarification on what constitutes a constitutional amendment, particularly concerning proposals that target individual cases. The court deemed the petition inadmissible because seven judges reported personal conflicts of interest, and the matter was removed from the agenda.
