Hungarian prosecutors seek protection for children following domestic abuse

The Budakörnyék District Prosecution Office has initiated proceedings to protect three minors following reports of severe domestic abuse. A mother sought legal assistance after her partner systematically abused both her and her daughter from a previous relationship.

According to authorities, the man subjected the child to verbal abuse regarding her body type and psychological cruelty, including telling her, “You have no father.” Physical abuse was also reported, including instances where the man stepped on the child's head with a work boot during play, as well as hitting and pinching her. The man also reportedly struck the mother in the face in front of the children.

In response, the police issued a temporary preventive restraining order to protect the woman and the children. The prosecution has requested that the court order a formal restraining order and has initiated procedures for the protection of the minors through the guardianship authority to ensure their physical, intellectual, and emotional development is not further compromised.
