Hungarian Railway GYSEV Receives First InterCity FLIRT Train from Stadler

The first InterCity FLIRT electric multiple unit for GYSEV was completed at Stadler's plant in Siedlce, Poland, and handed over to GYSEV executives and Hungarian Transport Minister Dávid Vitézy. The delivery marks the start of a 11‑train order that will modernise Hungary's long‑distance rail services, introducing fully barrier‑free carriages and continuous video surveillance. The new fleet is slated to enter service from 2027 on the Budapest–Győr–Szombathely and Budapest–Győr–Sopron corridors, representing the first dedicated InterCity rolling stock acquisition in three decades.

The project underscores a partnership between the Hungarian state railway, the Swiss manufacturer Stadler, and the Polish production site, reflecting broader European cooperation in rail technology and infrastructure renewal.
