Hungarian regulators approve FTTH permit and debate tighter outdoor advertising rules

The National Media and Telecommunications Authority announced a decision to grant Magyar Telekom a construction permit for a fiber‑to‑the‑home (FTTH) network in Nagyszakácsi. The notice, issued on 26 June 2026, states that the decision may be challenged in court within 30 days.

Separately, the Hungarian Advertising Association (MRSZ) has evaluated a draft proposal that would dramatically tighten restrictions on outdoor advertising in Budapest. The association warns the changes could cut revenue for district municipalities, the city’s transit operators (BKV, BKK) and other public‑service entities, and calls for a detailed impact study covering economic, legal and competition aspects.
