Hungarian State Treasury IT network hit by cyberattack, no data loss reported
A cyberattack targeted the information technology network of the Hungarian State Treasury’s agricultural and regional development unit, which operates under the National Payment Agency. Early investigations indicate the intrusion originated from Russian servers.
The Treasury’s IT specialists immediately isolated the affected servers and took steps to prevent further damage. While some internal files were encrypted, officials confirmed that no client data was lost or compromised. Service availability for the agricultural and regional development sector remains limited during the investigation.
The incident is being examined jointly by the National Cyber Security Institute and the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH). Authorities have reported the breach and are working to restore full system functionality.
