A Medián poll carried out between 22 and 24 July 2026 for the HVG found the Tisza Party’s backing fell to 57 % of the total adult population, down 3‑5 percentage points from the June figure of about 61 %. Among respondents who said they knew the parties, 66 % would vote for Tisza, and among the sure‑voter panel the party retained a 68 % lead. The poll was conducted directly after Sulyok Tamás signed a constitutional amendment ending the presidential term and after Prime Minister Magyar Péter proposed chess champion Judit Polgár for president – a candidacy she declined. Two‑thirds of those surveyed criticised the rapid nomination and the failure to hold the promised societal consultation on the head‑of‑state selection, and only 22 % regarded the quick decision as appropriate. In the same survey Fidesz held steady at about 19 % of the total population (22 % of the voting‑knowledgeable and 23 % of sure voters), while the minor Mi Hazánk party increased its share to roughly 7 % of the electorate. The results indicate a modest but statistically noticeable dip in Tisza’s popularity, though the party still enjoys a decisive advantage over its rivals.
