Hungarian fencers capture bronze medals at world championships

At the fencing World Championships in Hong Kong, Hungary earned two individual bronze medals. In men's foil, Dósa Dániel reached the podium for the first time in his career, defeating a series of opponents including Qatar’s Ali Ovaid and Russia’s Anton Borodcso before losing in the semi‑final to Czech fencer Alexander Choupenitch. His bronze marks the first Hungarian men's foil medal at a world championship since 1973.

In women's épée, 23‑year‑old Battai Sugár Katinka secured bronze after beating Kazakhstan’s Anasztasszija Gulik, Italy’s Mariella Viale, USA’s Maya Chamberlain and Russia’s Alina Mihajlova, before falling to Germany’s Larissa Eifler in the semi‑final. Her performance gave Hungary its second medal of the event, following Dósa’s earlier success. Other Hungarian fencers, including Szilágyi Áron, also competed but did not reach the medal rounds.
