Hungarian parties clash over August 20 event procurement

Controversies have emerged regarding the public procurement processes for the August 20 national holiday celebrations in Hungary. The Fidesz party has accused the Tisza Party of conducting a fraudulent procurement process, alleging that the contract for the event series was pre-arranged for Hardrock Kft., a company described as the Tisza Party’s own event organizer.

László Toroczkai, leader of the Mi Hazánk Mozgalom, announced that his party will file a report regarding suspected anti-competitive agreements in the 4 billion forint procurement process. Meanwhile, Fidesz MP Balázs Németh criticized the decision to proceed with the Budapest fireworks display despite high wind speeds, calling the authorization irresponsible and dangerous.

Additionally, political tension remains high regarding past celebrations. Novák Előd has raised questions about the financing and responsibility for a previous year's event involving a controversial performance of the national anthem.
