Hungary: Ex‑minister’s wife’s cleaning firm secures post‑election public contracts

Profi‑Komfort Kft., a cleaning company acquired in 2022 by Linda Szikora – the wife of former state secretary for international communication Zoltán Kovács – was awarded two new public‑sector contracts worth a total of 237.3 million forint after the April 12 parliamentary election. The firm won a 55.8 million‑forint contract to clean the Műcsarnok art venue and a 181.5 million‑forint contract for the ELTE Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Needs Education and an affiliated primary school.

The company, which previously held contracts with the Semmelweis University rehabilitation clinic (282 million forint) and the Kistarcsai Hospital (485 million forint), changed hands through a complex share purchase involving Násfa‑Hunyor Kft., which provided a 251 million‑forint loan to Profi‑Komfort. Questions have been raised about the source of the loan and the timing of the contracts, while Szikora also serves on the board of the Óbuda Property Management Company as a Fidesz delegate.
