Hungary expands textbook selection with 145 new approvals

The Hungarian Ministry of Education and Youth has announced significant progress in expanding the available textbook selection for schools. Following a public call for supplementary publications released in early June, 209 applications for textbook designation have been received.

As of the latest update from Minister Judit Lannert, 145 of these applications have successfully completed the approval process. These newly authorized publications will be added to the Educational Authority’s textbook registry, which is being continuously updated to provide teachers with a broader and more diverse range of materials.

Schools and their maintainers can order these new supplementary materials through a supplementary ordering period running from August 24 to September 15. This process is intended to complement, rather than replace, the primary textbook orders submitted in April. The ministry stated that this expansion is a step toward restoring teachers' freedom to choose textbooks and providing professionally grounded tools to support effective learning.
