Hungary extends deadline for electric‑vehicle subsidy program for businesses

The Hungarian government announced an extension of the electric‑vehicle purchase subsidy programme for companies. The deadline for receiving the support, originally set for 12 June 2026, has been pushed to 30 June 2026. The programme’s budget was raised from 40 billion to 45 billion forints, and the target number of subsidised vehicles was increased from 9 375 to 10 000 units.

Companies that applied before the 15 April deadline can now receive up to 64 million forints per firm, depending on staff size: up to one vehicle for firms under 10 employees, up to five for those with 10‑49 staff, up to ten for 50‑249 staff, and up to sixteen for firms with 250 or more employees. More than 10 000 businesses have already received subsidies, but many are still waiting for the final support documents, risking losses of several hundred thousand forints if the vehicles cannot be procured before the original deadline.

The extension gives firms additional time to complete vehicle purchases, registration, insurance and related paperwork, mitigating the financial risk caused by the earlier delay in issuing support certificates.
