Fuel prices fluctuate in Poland, Hungary, and Panama

Fuel markets in Poland, Hungary, and Panama are experiencing price fluctuations driven by government interventions and geopolitical tensions.

In Poland, the Ministry of Energy has reinstated the ‘Ceny Paliwa Niżej’ (Lower Fuel Prices) program for the final two weeks of August. This includes a reduced VAT rate from 23% to 8% for gasoline and diesel, alongside daily maximum price limits. While these measures aim to mitigate costs caused by instability in the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz, recent announcements indicate a slight upward trend in maximum allowable prices for the upcoming weekend, with 95-octane gasoline expected to reach 6.52 PLN per liter.

In Hungary, wholesale prices for 95-octane gasoline and diesel are set to increase by 8 forints per liter starting Wednesday, which is expected to be reflected in retail pump prices.

In Panama, the National Energy Secretariat announced a mixed adjustment: 95-octane gasoline will decrease by 4 cents to $1.23 per liter, and 91-octane will drop by 3 cents to $1.16 per liter, while low-sulfur diesel will increase by 1 cent to $1.35 per liter.
