Hungary fuel wholesale prices rise for gasoline and diesel

Wholesale prices for 95-octane gasoline and diesel in Hungary increased by 9 HUF per liter effective Saturday, August 15. While the increase affects wholesale costs, retail prices at individual gas stations may vary depending on how much of the hike providers choose to pass on to consumers.

Before this adjustment, the national average prices were 576 HUF for gasoline and 664 HUF for diesel. This maintains a significant price gap, with diesel already costing 88 HUF more per liter than gasoline. The rising cost of diesel is attributed to import dependencies and international supply uncertainties following sanctions on Russian oil, which have forced a shift toward more distant and costly sources.
