Hungary government faces transparency scrutiny over state tender

The new Hungarian government is facing scrutiny regarding the transparency of a state tender. Corruption researcher and former independent MP Akos Hadhazy raised concerns over the procurement process for fireworks used during Hungary's State Day celebrations.

Investigations suggest that the selection of the contractor, Hardrock Kft., may have been a formality. Internal correspondence indicates that Hardrock Kft. was in contact with the Lounge Group, a company close to the Fidesz party, before the previous contract was officially terminated. These communications reportedly involved Miklos Zelcenyi, a former event organizer for the Tisa party, acting at the request of government commissioner Mark Radnai.

While Radnai claimed he was unaware of the content of the emails until they were reported in the media, Hadhazy has rejected this explanation and threatened to file criminal charges. This incident occurs as the new administration continues to investigate various business dealings inherited from the previous Fidesz era.
