Hungary holds by-elections in several municipalities

Several Hungarian municipalities are holding by-elections on September 6 following the dissolution of various local representative bodies. These dissolutions were triggered by a range of issues, including political disagreements, professional crises, personal conflicts, and financial difficulties.

In Mosonszolnok, the council dissolved itself in May due to poor relations between the mayor and deputy mayor, as well as internal disputes. Four independent candidates, including current mayor István Bódi, are running for the mayoral position. In Vértesszőlős, the council dissolved after six representatives called for the resignation of Mayor István Bogár, citing a lack of cooperation and ineffective committee work.

Other locations facing elections include Apce, where professional and trust issues led to dissolution, and Mihályháza, where financial problems involving over 100 million forints in repayment obligations contributed to the council's collapse. In Nagyrécsen, political differences were the primary cause. Pusztaapát also faces an election due to personal conflicts. Additionally, in Budaörs, voters will elect a new representative to fill a vacancy left by the deceased Gergely Ritter.
