Hungary holds by-elections in three municipalities

By-elections are being held today in three Hungarian settlements—Csobánka, Mátraderecskén, and Pusztaszentlászlón—following the dissolution of their respective local representative bodies.

In Csobánka, approximately 3,000 residents will vote for one of two independent mayoral candidates, Kittire Kollár-Farsang or Zoltán Kelemen, alongside 15 candidates for six council seats. In Mátraderecskén, roughly 1,400 eligible voters will choose from six independent mayoral candidates. Notably, the previous mayor, Gábor Forgó, who won under Fidesz–KDNP in 2024, is not among the candidates.

Pusztaszentlászlón, the council dissolved in June due to financial disputes regarding the mayor's salary. Approximately 500 voters will choose between two mayoral candidates, Ervin Éder and Viktória Kovács, and six candidates for four council seats. Additionally, in Siklós, voters of the Serbian minority are electing representatives for the local minority municipal government.
