Hungary Implements EU 3‑Euro Small‑Package Duty on Non‑EU Online Orders

From 1 July, Hungary will apply the new EU customs rule that taxes parcels under €150 ordered from non‑EU webshops. A flat €3 duty is charged for each product category in the package, not per parcel. For example, a single order containing a shirt, a phone case and ear‑buds would incur three €3 duties, while three identical shirts would be taxed only once.

The duty is collected by the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) and handled through the post, couriers, or the platform’s appointed agent. The measure aims to protect Hungarian consumers and create fairer competition between EU and third‑country sellers, with no change for shipments valued above €150.
