Hungary launches large‑scale water aid amid heatwave

A severe heatwave has strained drinking‑water supplies in numerous Hungarian towns. In response, Aqua Lorenzo Kft., a subsidiary of the Mészáros Group, is providing 20 trucks carrying 302,400 bottles of 1.5‑litre, non‑carbonated Aqua Minera mineral water. Distribution began on 5 August 2026 and will continue according to local needs.

The water is delivered nationwide through three aid organisations – the Hungarian Red Cross, the Ecumenical Aid Organization and the Baptist Service – targeting communities where safe tap water has become temporarily unavailable. Over 453,000 litres of water have been allocated so far, with deliveries focused on the hardest‑hit areas as temperatures hover around 29‑31 °C and a red‑alert heat warning remains in force.
