Hungary leads latest European water polo rankings

European Aquatics has released its latest national water polo rankings, calculated based on results from senior and age-group European Championships over the last three years.

In the men’s rankings, Hungary holds the top position due to consistent performances across eight qualifying tournaments, including a silver medal at the 2026 European Championships. Serbia follows in second place, bolstered by their 2026 championship victory in Belgrade. Spain ranks third, having dropped two positions after securing only one medal during the 2025 and 2026 championships.

The Netherlands leads the women’s rankings after successfully defending their senior European title in Funchal in 2026. Hungary and Spain occupy the second and third spots in the women’s category, respectively.

In the combined national rankings, which aggregate both men’s and women’s results, Hungary ranks first, followed by Spain in second and Greece in third.
