Hungary names Szilas Péter as deputy state secretary for children's rights

Social and Family Minister Kátai‑Németh Vilmos announced on Facebook that Szilas Péter has been appointed deputy state secretary for children's rights. Péter began his career at the Ministry of Justice, contributing to the codification of the new Civil Code, and has spent the past fifteen years working as a lawyer. He stresses that safeguarding children's rights is essential for the healthy functioning of society, not merely a child‑protection issue.

Péter’s portfolio includes close cooperation with the Hintalovon Children’s Rights Foundation, where he has helped develop legal advice services, joint scholarly materials, and international research projects. The minister highlighted his experience in fostering dialogue and substantive debate in lawmaking, as well as his work linking the private sector with civil‑society organisations.
