Hungary PM Peter Magyar criticised by Amnesty over migration rhetoric

Amnesty International Hungary released a statement condemning Prime Minister Peter Magyar and other Tisza party politicians for using the same exclusionary, enemy‑creating language toward refugees that was promoted by the former Fidesz government. The organisation said the rhetoric undermines human dignity and the rule of law.

Magyar responded by accusing the previous Orbán‑led administration of planning a "migrant camp" in Vitnyéd‑Csermajor and of deceiving the EU about migration policy. He claimed the current government is forced to deal with the EU‑wide migration pact that entered into force on 12 June, and demanded concrete actions on the southern border. Opposition figures from Mi Hazánk and KDNP criticised Magyar’s allegations, while Fidesz officials denied any plan to build a migrant camp and defended their anti‑migration stance.
