Hungary sees declines in property and fuel prices

In May 2024, residential property prices in Budapest fell by 0.7% compared with April, marking a second consecutive month of decline – the first such sequence since September‑October 2022. Outside the capital, prices in Pest county dropped 0.4%, eastern regions fell 0.6‑1.7%, while parts of the Duna region saw modest increases of 0.3‑1.2%. Annual inflation in the capital remained well below the national average.

On 19 June 2024, wholesale fuel prices continued to fall, with gasoline costing 7 Ft per litre less and diesel 10 Ft per litre less than the previous day. The market price dropped below the government‑protected ceiling, reaching 592 Ft per litre for gasoline and 614 Ft per litre for diesel, compared with protected levels of 595 Ft and 615 Ft respectively. The lower prices are expected to benefit Hungarian motorists as the trend continues.
