Hungary faces widespread traffic disruptions from accidents and wildfires
Hungary is experiencing widespread traffic disruptions due to a series of accidents, heavy holiday congestion, and a significant wildfire.
In Tapolca, a large fire near the 77 main road has spread to a pine forest and a solar park. Emergency response efforts include two military helicopters and numerous volunteer fire departments. Due to heavy smoke, authorities have implemented traffic restrictions on the 77 main road.
Major highways are facing severe delays. The M5 motorway reported jams exceeding eight kilometers following a three-car collision near Lajosmizse and a truck hitting a guardrail near Kiskunfélegyháza. The M7 motorway also saw congestion of over five kilometers near Szabadbattyán due to a vehicle hitting a barrier. Other disruptions were noted on the M1, M3, and the 31 main road, where a four-vehicle collision caused a total road closure.
Additionally, multiple localized accidents occurred across the country, including collisions in Győr, Eger, and Tiszabura, as well as a truck carrying pigs overturning on the 63 main road in Cecén.
