Hungary issues summer safety and wellbeing guidance for students and families

Government and local agencies have released a range of advice to keep children safe during the 2026 summer break. The Disaster Management Directorate urges youngsters to avoid fire hazards by monitoring electrical devices, using fire‑extinguishing spray, and calling 112 in emergencies. It also reminds families to respect fire bans when outdoors.

In Sandorfalva, authorities will conduct mosquito larvicide spraying on 29 June, using Deltasect PR ULV liquid; residents are asked to keep windows closed and cover outdoor items during and for one hour after treatment.

Police and health officials warn about increased traffic risks as teenagers ride electric scooters, recommending helmets, reflective vests and parental supervision. Medical staff note a rise in summer injuries among minors.

Education experts highlight the typical “summer learning loss” – up to one month of reading loss and two to three months in math – and advise parents to incorporate informal learning through reading, daily shopping, cooking and games rather than intensive worksheets.

Employers and work‑from‑home specialists advise parents to plan focused work periods, communicate availability, and take regular breaks to manage the mental load of balancing remote work with childcare during the holidays.
