Hungary's JÉGER Ice‑Fog Mitigation System Under Government Review

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food held a meeting with civil representatives to examine the JÉGER ice‑fog mitigation system. Critics raised questions about the system’s transparency, legal basis, generator placement, and possible effects on precipitation, citing a petition with roughly 12,000 signatures. The minister announced the creation of an independent scientific committee to conduct a comprehensive assessment and pledged a rapid, representative survey of Hungarian farmers. He stated that if a majority of farmers oppose the service, the government will secure the necessary legal and technical conditions to halt the system. All findings will inform a final decision on the system’s future operation.
