Hungary's Parliament debates new National Asset Recovery Office
On an extraordinary session of the Hungarian Parliament, lawmakers voted on extending the special tax for oil‑product manufacturers to 2027 and opened debate on a draft law to create the National Asset Recovery and Protection Office. The proposed office would identify, secure and reclaim public assets that have been unlawfully transferred, and initiate the necessary administrative and judicial procedures to prevent illegal management of state wealth.
The same session also addressed amendments required for Hungary’s EU Recovery and Resilience Plan on energy, reforms to police duties, the dissolution of the Terrorism Prevention Center, changes to education legislation, and updates to health‑data laws.
