Hungary's tax authority sets June‑July deadlines for vehicle tax, global minimum tax and new EU customs fee
The National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) announced that the deadline for requesting a five‑month, interest‑free instalment plan for the vehicle tax is June 30. The same date applies to the filing and payment of the 2024 global minimum tax for multinational and large domestic corporate groups, which must be submitted electronically via the ONYA system. Companies that miss the filing may face fines of up to HUF 10 million.
Starting July 1, a new EU customs rule takes effect in Hungary: parcels under €150 ordered from non‑EU web shops will incur a €3 customs charge for each product category (tariff code), not per package. The fee is collected by the postal service, courier or platform handling the shipment. NAV advises individuals and firms to use the NAV‑Mobile app for the vehicle‑tax instalment request, noting that any delay beyond June 30 makes the request invalid.
