Vietnam commemorates 150th anniversary of Huỳnh Thúc Kháng's birth

Vietnam held several ceremonies and scientific workshops in Da Nang to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Huỳnh Thúc Kháng (1876–2026), a prominent patriotic scholar, journalist, and former Acting President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

National leaders, including National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn and Central Propaganda Department Head Trịnh Văn Quyết, participated in the events. During the commemorations, officials honored Kháng’s legacy of intellectualism, integrity, and devotion to the nation. Speakers emphasized his role in the Duy Tan movement, his journalistic contributions through the newspaper ‘Tiếng Dân’, and his leadership during the early years of the revolutionary government.

The events included a scientific seminar hosted by the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and a ceremony at the Huỳnh Thúc Kháng Memorial House. Participants also marked the occasion with the release of a commemorative postage stamp, highlighting his enduring influence on Vietnamese political and cultural history.
