Hunter Schafer discusses gender-affirming surgery and upcoming Blade Runner series

Actress Hunter Schafer has shared details regarding her recent gender-affirming bottom surgery, which took place in December 2025. In an interview with Elle magazine, Schafer expressed satisfaction with the procedure and discussed her journey toward a more stable sense of gender identity. She noted that the recovery process was rigorous, requiring her to limit physical activity significantly.

Schafer is set to star in the upcoming Prime Video miniseries ‘Blade Runner 2099’, alongside Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh. The eight-episode series, produced by Ridley Scott, is expected to debut on November 25 and will explore a future where the power dynamics between replicants and humans have fundamentally shifted. The production aims to capture a tone closer to the original 1982 film than the 2017 sequel.
