Hunter Schafer reveals undergoing gender-affirming surgery

Hunter Schafer, the 27-year-old actress known for her role in the series “Euphoria,” has revealed that she underwent gender-affirming bottom surgery last December. In an interview with Elle magazine, Schafer described the experience as “amazing” and expressed her satisfaction with the results.

Schafer discussed her evolving relationship with her gender identity, noting that while she previously embraced a more fluid or gender-expansive approach to her body, she has since reached a point of certainty, stating, “I’m a woman. I’m a girl.” She explained that the decision stemmed from a desire to align her physical self with her personal identity, noting a tension between theoretical queer philosophies and her lived daily experience.

The actress also shared details regarding her recovery process, which required strict physical limitations. To facilitate her healing, she rented a large apartment where she could receive support from friends and family while adhering to medical advice to limit her movement to approximately 150 steps per day.
