Huntlosen garage fire halted before spreading to adjacent apartment building

In the early hours of Friday (around 01:34), a fire broke out in an open garage annex on Bahnhofstraße in Huntlosen, Germany. The blaze, whose cause remains unidentified, involved stored waste bins and bulk trash, and quickly ignited the garage’s roof and nearby vegetation.

Firefighters from the volunteer fire brigades of Huntlosen and Sandhatten arrived promptly, joined by a command vehicle from the Großenkneten community fire department in Ahlhorn, the municipal fire chief, a rescue ambulance and police units. About 40 personnel, including three breathing teams using ladders, extinguished lingering hotspots in the roof, bringing the fire under control within minutes and preventing it from reaching the directly adjacent multi‑family house.

The street was closed for roughly one and a half hours while the incident was managed, and after two hours all follow‑up extinguishing work was completed. Police opened an investigation on site, questioning residents and emergency workers to determine the fire’s origin.
