On July 26 2026 the Pacific hurricane Genevieve intensified to a Category 3 storm with maximum sustained winds of about 120 mph (195 km/h). At the time the centre was roughly 800 km (500 mi) southwest of Manzanillo, Colima, moving west‑northwest at 16‑28 km/h. No coastal watches or warnings were issued for Mexico, but swells generated by the storm produced life‑threatening surf and rip‑current conditions along the southwestern coast and were expected to reach the southern Baja California Peninsula.

Meteorological agencies (the U.S. National Hurricane Center and Mexico’s Servicio Meteorológico Nacional) warned that Genevieve’s outer bands would bring heavy to very heavy rain to western Mexican states—including Jalisco, Nayarit, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero and Sinaloa—and also to Veracruz, Tabasco, Oaxaca and Chiapas.
