Hurricane Trudy intensifies to Category 2 near Mexico's Pacific coast

Hurricane Trudy has intensified to a Category 2 storm on the Saffir-Simpson scale, threatening the Pacific coast of Mexico, specifically the states of Colima, Jalisco, and Michoacán. The storm features maximum sustained winds of 155 km/h and gusts reaching 195 km/h.

Authorities have activated emergency protocols, including Plan Marina, and have established temporary shelters. Preventive evacuation plans are in effect for communities at risk of landslides and flooding. In Colima, beaches in Armería, Tecomán, and Manzanillo have been closed, and some areas have already reported flooding, fallen trees, and stranded vehicles.

Meteorological forecasts predict intense rainfall of 75 to 150 mm in Colima and Michoacán, and very strong rains in Jalisco and Nayarit. High waves between five and seven meters are expected along the coasts of Jalisco, Colima, and Michoacán. The storm is expected to move northwest, potentially weakening to a tropical storm by mid-week as it approaches Baja California Sur.
