Husband of late KCB executive withdraws burial dispute case

Kevin Migwe Kimwatu, the husband of the late KCB Bank Head of Data Protection Rosemary Koech, has informed a Nairobi court that he will not seek the exhumation of his wife’s body. He has also decided to withdraw his legal case against his in-laws, expressing a desire for family reconciliation after a dispute regarding her burial.

Rosemary Koech died by suicide on August 21 at the age of 40. A legal conflict arose between her husband, who sought her burial at his ancestral home in Matasia, and her parents, who wished to bury her at their home in Chepseon, Kericho County. Although the Milimani Court had issued interim orders to stop the interment without the husband's consent, the burial proceeded at night on August 25 at the family home in Chepseon village.

Kimwatu’s lawyer stated that the decision to withdraw the case and forgo contempt proceedings is part of a move toward mending long-standing family bonds. Kimwatu has requested permission to visit the gravesite with his children and other family members.
