Husein Sastranegara Airport Certified for Boeing 737-800 Operations
Bandara Husein Sastranegara in Bandung, West Java, received a Certificate of Airport (SBU) from Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation on 23 July 2026. The certification (No. 005.1/SBU/VII/2026) authorises the airport to handle narrow‑body jets such as the Boeing 737‑800. It was granted to PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero) – the airport operator – after the facility met the required aviation safety standards, including upgrading its Aircraft Accident and Fire‑Fighting (PKP‑PK) capability to Category 7. InJourney Airports, the managing contractor, completed infrastructure improvements on runways, taxiways and aprons and increased fire‑fighting resources from Category 5 to Category 7. Corporate Secretary Group Head Arie Ahsanurrohim thanked the Ministry of Transportation, the Indonesian Air Force, West Java provincial authorities and the Bandung city government for their support in achieving the certification, marking a significant step in optimizing the airport’s services and capacity.
