Hvidovre Municipality clarifies abandoned vehicle procedures

Hvidovre Municipality has clarified its procedures regarding the handling of abandoned and illegally parked vehicles following local debates. The municipality stated that the police hold the primary authority to remove abandoned vehicles, including those without license plates.

While the municipality can intervene directly, specific conditions must be met: the vehicle must have received three parking fines for the same violation and a minimum four-week hearing period must have passed. Regarding concerns about fire lanes, the municipality noted that while certain streets are designated as fire lanes, parking is prohibited based on signage regardless of the road classification.
