HVV to increase ticket prices and abolish online discount

The Hamburg Transport Association (HVV) has announced price increases and the removal of a popular digital discount, effective January 1. The adjustments are attributed to rising energy and personnel costs.

Key changes include the elimination of the 7 percent discount previously offered for tickets purchased via the app or online shop. The HVV stated that because more than half of all tickets are now sold digitally, the incentive to promote digital sales channels is no longer necessary. This change, combined with price hikes, could result in some passengers paying up to 21.9 percent more for certain tickets.

Specific price adjustments include: - Short-distance and city single tickets will increase by ten cents to 2.20 Euro. - Single tickets for three rings will rise from 7.00 Euro to 7.40 Euro. - Child tickets for Hamburg AB will increase from 1.50 Euro to 1.70 Euro, while the corresponding day pass will rise from 3.00 Euro to 3.40 Euro.

Additionally, the HVV plans to reduce its ticket assortment by discontinuing certain options, including the weekly ticket.
