Hyaluronic acid and wrinkle prevention: Dermatologists and product tests

Dermatologists explain that wrinkles result from a combination of genetics, environmental factors like smoking and sun exposure, and the age-related decline of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. While wrinkles are a natural part of aging, they can be managed through skincare and aesthetic treatments.

Hyaluronic acid is particularly important as it binds water to plump and smooth the skin. However, a study by the consumer magazine ‘Öko-Test’ on 24 hyaluronic acid serums revealed mixed results. While some products received the highest rating for being free of harmful substances, four popular drugstore brands failed the test due to the presence of problematic ingredients.
