Hybrid work drives new car‑ownership patterns in India

The expansion of hybrid work arrangements in India has reduced daily commuting, leading many households to rethink the purpose and cost of owning a car. While office trips now occur only a few days a week, employees still rely on personal vehicles for client meetings, weekend travel, grocery runs, family outings, and occasional emergencies.

Because driving frequency has fallen but fixed costs remain, owners are reassessing total ownership expenses such as loan repayments, registration, maintenance, parking and insurance.
