Overview

India’s automotive industry is undergoing a structural shift toward electrification and alternative fuels. In August 2026, cleaner-fuel vehicles, including electric (EV), hybrid, and compressed natural gas (CNG) models, surpassed petrol sales for the first time, accounting for 41.95% of passenger vehicle sales.
