Hyderabad Chief Minister Revanth Reddy Holds Officials Accountable for Monsoon Chaos

Heavy rains on June 9 caused severe waterlogging and widespread traffic gridlock in Hyderabad. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said he had issued advance advisories on June 1, but municipal, police and traffic officials failed to act, leading to public inconvenience.

Reddy ordered strict action against officers who were not present on the roads during the emergency and demanded a data‑driven approach to identify water‑logging points, black‑spots and congestion zones. He instructed the electricity department to keep mobile transformers and clear fallen trees, and directed health officials to test water quality, stock medicines and prepare for disease outbreaks. Additional directives were given to irrigation, agriculture and finance departments to accelerate repairs, fund gate maintenance and ensure seed and urea distribution.

The chief minister warned that any future negligence would result in tough disciplinary measures, emphasizing coordination among all relevant agencies to keep the city moving during monsoon events.
