Hyderabad court convicts 33 in POCSO and PITA case

A Hyderabad court has convicted 33 individuals in a case involving violations of the POCSO and PITA Acts. The investigation, conducted by the Telangana CID, originated from a 2015 report by a victim who had been promised employment but was instead forced into prostitution and subjected to physical and sexual abuse.

Following the victim's escape and subsequent report, CID raids led to the apprehension of 45 persons and the rescue of nine minor girls. Special Sessions Judge Uday Bhaskar Rao sentenced five of the accused to life imprisonment. Other sentences included three individuals receiving 14 years of rigorous imprisonment, 14 receiving 10 years, and 11 receiving three years.

The court also ordered five lakh rupees in compensation for each of the nine minor victims to address the physical and mental trauma they endured.
