Hyderabad food safety inspections uncover pest infestations and adulteration in bakeries and fast‑food stalls

The Hyderabad Food Safety Task Force (H‑FAST) carried out inspections at a range of food‑manufacturing sites across the city, including sweet‑making bakeries, cake and biscuit units, and fast‑food eateries in the Old City. Officials reported widespread hygiene breaches such as pest infestations, unsanitary conditions, lack of pest‑control records, missing water‑analysis certificates, use of reused cooking oil and artificial food colours.

During the operation, three individuals were detained and two cases filed. Authorities seized 20 litres of reused oil, fresh oil, 40 kg each of fried and raw chicken, and several packets of synthetic colourants. The task force warned the public to avoid unlicensed or unhygienic outlets and said penalties will be imposed on establishments that fail to meet food‑safety standards.
