Hyderabad food safety raids lead to arrests over beef and seafood adulteration

The Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) raided Osman Meat Shop in Mallepally on July 1, seizing about 50 kg of meat suspected of being beef mislabeled as mutton. Police arrested shop owner Mohammed Osman Qureshi and worker Mohammed Jahangir Pasha, registering a case against them while samples were sent for laboratory testing.

In a separate operation, Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force raided Tara Fisheries in Mangalhat, confiscating 100 kg of prawns, 162 kg of fish, sodium bicarbonate and salt. Four men – Shankar Singh, Mann Singh, Gulab Singh and Rohit Singh – were arrested for preserving and selling decomposed seafood as fresh, allegedly supplying hotels and events. The seized items were handed to local police for further investigation.

Both raids are part of intensified H-FAST inspections targeting food adulteration, unhygienic storage and violations of safety norms across Hyderabad.
