Hyderabad food safety raids seize sev, oil and flag multiple hygiene violations

Hyderabad officials from the Commissionerate of Food Safety seized 110 kg of sev and 40 L of cooking oil at the Ashoksingh Foods unit in Karmanghat after discovering that the establishment was operating under a retailer licence while manufacturing the snack. Inspectors also noted the suspected use of synthetic food colours, repeated oil reuse, unsafe handling and poor sanitation, and sent the seized samples for laboratory testing before deciding on further action.

In a separate inspection at M/s Sweekar Hotel on Kacheguda Crossroads, food safety officers found fungal‑contaminated cabbage, citrus‑canker‑affected lemons, rotten tomatoes and unpeeled boiled potatoes, along with housefly infestation and inadequate record‑keeping. The hotel lacked Food Safety Training and Certification‑qualified staff, and a 700‑gram packet of New Classic Hakka Noodles was seized for missing required labeling. Action has been initiated under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
