Hyderabad police arrest 10 in Begum Bazar illegal gambling raid

Goshamahal police conducted a raid on an illegal card game in Begum Bazar, Hyderabad, resulting in the arrest of 10 individuals. The operation took place in the early hours of Sunday, August 16, following credible information regarding a gambling event being held on the fourth floor of a residence.

Authorities seized approximately ₹1.18 lakh in cash, multiple packs of playing cards, casino-style tokens, and hookah-related materials, including pots and an electric stove. The participants had reportedly locked the premises to conduct the high-stakes games in secret.

Shyam Sunder and Ghanshyam Das Karwa have been identified as facilitators of the activity. A case has been registered under the Telangana Gaming Act, the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The apprehended individuals were served with notices under Section 35(3) of the BNSS.
