Hyderabad police detain driver in alleged Rs 10 crore extortion case
Police in Hyderabad have detained the driver of N Sumanth, the former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to former Telangana minister Konda Surekha, in connection with an alleged extortion and assault case.
The investigation follows a complaint by real estate businessman Gongidi Harikrishna, who alleges that Sumanth and five others attempted to extort Rs 10 crore from him. Harikrishna claims that after meeting Sumanth near the Jubilee Hills Checkpost, he was assaulted with iron rods and sticks. The victim reportedly suffered a fractured hand and required surgery following the attack.
A Zero FIR for attempted murder was initially registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and later transferred to the Jubilee Hills Police Station. While the driver has been taken into custody near Sumanth’s residence in Tellapur, authorities are continuing their search to apprehend Sumanth.
