Overview

An investigation is underway in Hyderabad regarding an alleged extortion and assault attempt involving N Sumanth, the former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to former Telangana minister Konda Surekha.

Real estate businessman Gongidi Harikrishna filed a complaint alleging that Sumanth and five others attempted to extort Rs 10 crore from him. Harikrishna reported being lured to an office and assaulted with iron rods and sticks, resulting in a fractured hand that required surgery.

The suspension was ordered due to alleged negligence, including delays in filing an FIR and failure to locate the accused. A departmental inquiry has been initiated to review police conduct.
